The Rey Juan Carlos University and RACE organize a 200-h course on Traffic and Road Safety

The Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC) and the Royal Automobile Club of Spain (RACE) organize in February 2010 the first edition of a High School Course on Traffic and Road Safety, a 200-hour online course. The directors are Professor Enrique Cabello Pardos, principal investigator of FRAV research group of the Rey Juan Carlos University, and Mr Juan Antonio Sánchez-Trillo Gómez (RACE).

This course is aimed mainly to professionals working in road safety, both in the public administration or in private firms, and who have a demonstrable experience of at least 3 years in this sector. It can also be interesting for graduates and engineers who wish to develop their work in the context of traffic and road safety.

The goals of this course are:

  • Creating a specific background covering the needs of technical and methodological knowledge for professionals who work in the multidisciplinary field of Education and Road Safety.
  • Creating a specializacion niche on Road Safety with influence in Spain and Latin America.

The contents are organized in twelve thematic modules:

High School Course on Traffic and Road Safety
  1. Introduction to Road Safety.
  2. Legal framework of Traffic and Road Safety. Spanish model.
  3. The road and its environment.
  4. Active safety in the vehicle.
  5. Passive safety in the vehicle.
  6. The human factor in the driving.
  7. Preventive measurements.
  8. Post-accident measurements.
  9. Safe driving concepts.
  10. Vehicle and sustainability.
  11. Control measurements.
  12. Special vehicles.
